Nine Pin, with a party coming up, expands to another state

ALBANY -- Nine Pin Ciderworks may be a homegrown business, but it's not staying "housebound."

Co-founder and co-owner Alejandro del Peral has expanded the partnership with distributor Remarkable Liquids to enter the New Jersey market, making the company’s ciders available in cans, bottles, and on draft in various on- and off-premise locations throughout the Garden State. The move follows up on last year's entry into the Massachusetts and Connecticut markets, giving it a four-state presence in a relatively brief time in existence.

Nine Pin, which in 2014 was granted the first New York State farm cidery license, sources all of its apples from the Hudson Valley and the Capital Region, and makes its cider at its 17,000-square-foot facility in Albany.

Nine Pin will host its annual pressing party this Saturday, once again squashing more than 100 varieties of apples into one "monster" cider blend. The 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. event will feature a variety of pressing-themed events, live music, food vendors, and the release of the 2017 batch of The Cider Monster. Tickets at various prices are available online. The facility is located at 929 Broadway. Phone: 518-449-9999.
