COLONIE -- Two new eateries are expected to be completed in the next six or seven months at Albany International Airport.
Empire Deli, which will feature craft beers and some wines, is expected
to be completed by mid-March. Work on converting the former McDonald's
location, which closed at the end of the year after it was unable to
agree on a new lease with the Albany County Airport Authority, into a
Burger King venue is projected to open in mid-July.
The deli is an
offshoot of the Arena Football League's Albany Empire team in a partnership with Outstanding
Hospitality Management (OHM). It will be located at the food court inside the public area of the security gates.
It will serve as a fast-dining
experience with a mix of menu options such
as cold and hot subs, salads, wraps, soups, and breakfast options, along with local beer and wine selections.
