Panza's redevelopment plan calls for a lot of demolition

SARATOGA SPRINGS -- The lakeside spot that includes the iconic 80-year-old Panza's Restaurant will be seeing an ambitious change take place this winter if all goes according to plan.

For starters, the current building will be torn down in January, and a bi-level structure built to replace it, with the restaurant occupying the first floor and an event space on the second, plus a large patio, assuming all permits and approvals are received on time.

This is all part of a plan to redevelop the parcel of land that hugs the shore of Saratoga lake. Also slated for replacement are the current rental units, with a 36-room hotel on the drawing board.

Panza's is located at 510 Route 9P. Hours: dinner from 3 p.m. Sunday and from 5 p.m. Monday and Wednesday to Saturday, closed Tuesday. Phone: 518-584-6882.
